Current Structure

There’s no doubt about it, BIG sessions are becoming more and popular!

New users join the support sessions every week. The credibility that comes with the name BIG in Mental Health speaks for itself amongst service users and the clinicians who support BIG.

With the knowledge that people need different support at different stages in their recovery, BIG has tailored its support in this way.

With a specific focus on managing anxiety, these fortnightly sessions give people the opportunity to share experiences and learn how to manage their anxieties on a day to day basis.

Service users and professionals come together at these weekly sessions to discuss a range of issues affecting mental health. It is appreciated that Consultant Psychiatrists from Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust attend these sessions in their own time on a fortnightly basis. BIG in Recovery benefits both service users and clinicians, the clinicians regularly comment that they have gained new insights into how patients experience and view their issues and difficulties, which has helped them to help others.

BIG in Abstinence is for adults who are in dual recovery. If you have a mental health condition and you are also in recovery from alcohol / drug problems you may attend.

Convenient weekly informal support for any issues relating to mental health.

Offers a chance for people to come together weekly in an informal and friendly setting having a coffee, a chat, make friends and get involved in a range of social activities.
