Debt and Mental Health

Debt is a common problem in people with mental health issues .As a result of illness a person ability to cope with their finances may be impaired. The issues with benefits changes and problems dealing with that can cause additional stress and worry. Cutbacks in council funding can affect involvement of support services and reduction of access to help.

What can you do ?

It is importance to deal with debt sooner rather than later.

Plan your monthly budget there are various budget planners online.

Get advice-try Citizens  Advice Bureau they can do a benefit check and help either deal with creditors or refer you to a specialist debt management company .(this will not cost anything)Take someone with you for support. If you can’t leave the house the advisers will do home visits.
